More old paper, guys! I made these yesterday, and just finished scanning them in now. Not because I didn't have time, that's seriously just how long it took. I've been at my scanner since 7AM. It's 4:35PM now. Ack.

If you're curious, it only takes an hour or two to make the initial stock. You brew a pot of coffee and put some in a bowl, and while it's cooling, crinkle and uncrinkle a piece of paper repeatedly. After, you flatten it out on a cookie sheet, and pour a small amount of coffee on it. Then you brush it until it covers all surfaces. After that, you place it in the oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for under 5 minutes, checking to make sure the pages aren't burning. That's it, really. Also, the longer you leave the page soaking up coffee before baking, the darker your page will be. For an even look, you can place the coffee in a spray-bottle and coat the surface that way. May work best if you coat it, bake it, and then apply a second coat, though. For the burnt pages, I used cardstock, as it burns about the same, but the flames/embers don't spread quite as rapidly, making them easier to control before dousing them.

The last time I made these, they were neater, because my scanner was working properly. Today, it was auto-cropping everything even with the "auto-crop" feature turned off, and things wound up mis-aligned even after I triple-checked the adjustment in the scanner-bed, and just...ack. It's been a horrible day for scanning. So I think they look alright, but if you're wondering why things aren't absolutely perfect...that's why. What also bugs me is that the colors weren't showing up properly, and the overall look was so different than in person that I just said "screw it" and edited them to look nice instead. It's okay, though. I'm upset that laying my pages flat on the scanner kills all the original depth of these, so I plan to do a slightly lower-res, photo version, too. One where you can really see the shadows and the actual coloring of these. That'll come a bit later, though.

For now, I hope these are helpful to you, and if so, that you'll share them with others.
